Mommy, napakalaki ng role mo sa pagpapalaki kay baby para siya ay maging independent. At kaya mo siyang i-train para maging independent kahit bata pa.

Kaya mo siyang gawing independent kung bibigyan mo siya ng freedom para mag-explore at matuto. Ikaw pa rin ang susundan kaya kailangan mong i-decide ang limit ng independence niya. Turuan mo siya kung kailan maging leader at kailan sumunod.

Hayaan mo siya mag-explore: Mahilig ang mga baby mag-explore kaya matapos i-baby proof ang bahay, hayaan mo siyang maglibot para matuto sa kanyang kapaligiran. ‘Wag kalimutang bantayan siya, mommy.

Hayaan mo siyang matuto: Turuan mo siya ng mga gawain na angkop sa edad niya. Example, pwede mo siyang turuan magligpit ng kanyang laruan habang baby pa lang siya. Kapag naging consistent ka, magugulat ka na bigla niyang gagawin kahit hindi mo siya sinasabihan.

Hayaan mo siyang magsalita: Kausapin mo siya nang madalas. Turuan mo siyang magtanong sa mga hindi niya naiintindihan at sabihin kung anong paningin niya sa mga bagay, tulad ng mga games at cartoons. Pwede mo rin siyang i-encourage kausapin ang mga ibang kamag-anak sa telepono.

Hayaan siyang pumili ng gagawin niya: Bigyan mo siya ng chance piliin kung ano ang gusto niyang gawin. Pwede mo siya bigyan ng ideas pero hayaan mong siya ang mag-decide.

Hayaan mo siya sa mga simpleng gawain: Habang bata palang siya, turuan mo na siyang gumawa ng mga simpleng gawain tulad ng pagkuha ng tubig para sa kanyang sarili. Bantayan mo siya pero bigyan mo siya ng space.

Encourage mo siya: Sabihin mo sa kanya ‘pag proud ka na may natutunan siyang bago o may ginawa siya para sa kanyang sarili. Encourage mo siyang matuto mula sa kanyang mistakes at mag-try ng mga bagong bagay. Makakatulong ito sa pag-develop ng confidence niya.

Tandaan: Kailangan balanced ang pagbigay ng freedom at pagturo ng discipline.

 

Ilang techniques:

Mag-set ng rules: Ikaw pa rin ang gumagawa ng rules. Explain mo lang kung bakit mahalaga ang rules at ‘wag bastang palitan.

Maging consistent: ‘Pag may sinabi ka, dapat iyon ang masunod. Kasama na dito ang mga reward at punishment. ‘Wag siyang i-threaten kung hindi mo kayang sundan ang iyong threat. Makakatulong ito sa kanya mag-respect ng authority. Madalas tina-try ng bata ibahin ang rules kaya maging handa i-enforce ang lahat ng sinasabi mo.

Hayaan siyang magkamali: Kung walang masasaktan, kaya niyang matuto mula sa pagkakamali niya.  Hayaan mong maramdaman at maranasan niya ang mga consequence ng actions niya.

Tandaan: Maraming nakakamit ang mga pinalaking independent. Kahit malaki ang problema, kaya nilang lampasan. Tulungan mo siyang maging independent, at matutulungan mo siyang magtagumpay at maging angat sa buhay.
