Detective, What’s in the Box?

MATERIALS NEEDED

Paper

Drawing Supplies 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Show your kid all the objects as you place them in the box.  

2. Explain to your kid that they are going to be a detective.

3. You will give them some clues and your kid has to try and guess what is in the box.

4. Take out an item, may it be the right one or wrong one. 

5. Try for a few times to take the wrong item out of the box and see if your kid can tell you why that is the wrong item.       

Sample:      

Adult: ‘It’s round, and green, What is in the box? 
Kid: ‘An apple.’ 
Adult: (takes out the book) ‘Is this right?’ 
Kid: ‘No.’ 
Adult: ‘Why is this not the right thing?’   

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT

This helps your kid make sense of the world and solve problems using language. These are important skills for your kid to learn.
