How much did your kid's version of the story differ from the original story?
MATERIALS NEEDED
A familiar story book
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Choose a story that your kid likes and knows well, and read it to them during their usual story time.
2. When you get towards the end, stop the story and say: You know how the story ends, but let’s come up with a different ending. How else could the story end?
3. As they start to come up with their alternate ending, help them expand their ideas by asking for more details.
4. Assist them in crafting sentences, employing varied vocabulary to describe objects, and understanding the relationship between action verbs and subjects.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT
There are always numerous potential endings to a story, just as there can be various solutions to a problem. Your gifted kid’s capacity to contemplate alternate pathways is a valuable aspect of language communication.
