Hey Mommies --- alam n’yo bang importante sa iyong toddler to play outdoors so that he can grow healthy and happy?

Big Plus on his physical development

Here are just some of the physical goodness he gets from playing outside in the sun:

  • Strong bones and muscles
  • Proper hand-eye coordination
  • Lessens risk of obesity and diabetes
  • Sound sleep and rest at night

High scores on emotional development

Playing outdoors with neighbors gives him emotional benefits:

  • Meeting new friends and learning to communicate with kids his age.
  • Developing his imagination through playing.
  • Building his self-confidence and positive attitude in life.
  • Learning to focus and concentrate on the task at hand.

Some interesting outdoor ideas he can do:

  • Play ball: Teach your child to how to kick, throw, catch the ball.
  • Treasure hunt: Allow your toddler to look for interesting things in your garden like a leaf or stone and study it closely with him.
  • Explore nature: Encourage him to be one with nature. Hayaan mo siya maging dirty --- it helps him care for the earth and develop his imagination. Spend time showing him different kinds of trees, flowers, birds and insects.
  • Lunch date: Make him socialize with his friends over lunch.
  • His own play space: Often, it is good to let him run free by himself for as long as you know it is a safe place and that he is always well within your sight as he plays.

Ensure your child’s utmost safety

  • Don’t meddle with his play unless you see potential harm or danger happening to him or his kalaro.
  • Let him know calmly if he is playing dangerously. Teach him safety in playing. If he refuses to listen to you, introduce him to another activity.
  • Apply sunscreen on him to protect him from harmful UV rays that cause sunburn.
